How CNC milling prices are calculated

A CNC price is not a single price-per-kilo. eksenix.com splits material, machine time, tooling allowance, finishing, labor, one setup, overhead and margin. VAT is added once at quote level. Quantity discount applies to the line, and setup is not repeated per piece.

Material cost follows the blank, which is the bounding box plus the configured allowance. Time follows the removed volume. Pricing from the box alone would treat a hollow part like a solid block. If volume is unreliable, there is no line total.

Hourly rates, removal rate and margin live in the database. Seed values are placeholders and are labelled. They are not a promise until someone replaces them with shop figures. A change writes a quote version and an audit row.

Tiers 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 each get a unit price. Setup is shared, so the unit can fall as quantity rises. Both columns live on the line. Upload the STEP file on the quote screen to see the price.

A tight tolerance or an unpriced extra such as tapping keeps the line in review. An automated estimate and an engineering-approved quote are different documents.
