CNC machining tolerances
Get a quoteIf the drawing has no tolerance, a shop falls back to a general one. ISO 2768-m is a common medium class for machined parts. eksenix.com can estimate it without forcing review. ISO 2768-f is tighter: a number may appear, but the line stays preliminary until an engineer accepts it.
“±0.01 everywhere” is a wish. On a long aluminum part, temperature, clamping and tool deflection can leave that band. Mark the one or two dimensions that matter. Putting the whole model on the tight band grows both time and scrap.
Fits such as H7 are not the general tolerance. The engine does not read a hole system and price a thread pitch. Tapping is an extra; if its price is empty, there is no total.
Surface texture is the twin of tolerance. As-machined and bead blast are different lines. If you need an Ra value and the panel has no price for it, the job goes to review instead of receiving a made-up Ra charge.
